Frontier Technology is a RIPE NCC member: Providing Advanced Connectivity Options for Growing Organisations
IP Address is a finite resource but this doesn’t mean that a company’s growth can be tied down with this limitation.
Along with its data centre expansion efforts, Frontier Technology has signed up to become an affiliate RIPE NCC member. This esteemed membership status allows us to provide better and wider connectivity options and services to its clientele. According to our Managing Director Edwin Wong.“One of the reasons why we put so much investment in growing our data centre is because we want the organisations that rely on us to grow, too. We want to be able to seamlessly accommodate their progress within our UK-based, Tier 4 data centres,”
Not all cloud providers have complete control over external IP addresses that they pass on to end-users. Often, they are allocated from the colocation facility they are hosted. However, because Frontier Technology is a member of the RIPE NCC, they are assigned client IP addresses that do not depend on any third party authority. The benefit of this is that Frontier Technology can offer flexibility through a wider range of IP address options; cutting off restriction barriers and limiting the likelihood of unplanned, often costly, IP address changes.
IP Address is a finite resource but this doesn’t mean that a company’s growth can be tied down with this limitation. In September last year, RIPE NCC distributed the final IPv4 address space from its reserves. It began allocating address space from the last /8 and the numbers are diminishing. Frontier Technology runs IPv4/21 address scheme with over 2,000 IP addresses that can still be allocated.
Recently, RIPE NCC has made available IPv6 and Frontier Technology has been allocated 29 address spaces . This entitles Frontier Technology to 34 billion IPv6 addresses that they can pass on to their clients. “We encourage our customers to test IPv6 whilst planning future migrations. This will help them become resilient and scalable in aligning IT tasks with that of their organisation,” adds Edwin Wong.
