Altius

Altius is one of the largest independent law firms in Belgium and gives priority to “good governance” of its IT Systems. It is extremely important for the firm to be able to show a “paper trail” of email communication to support an action or advice given to a client. Due to the volume of email data being generated, personal email archives were becoming overwhelmed and management were noticing increased overheads and unreliability in their systems.

Altius required a solution that would store all emails centrally, to reduce storage costs and management overheads.

Symantec directly engaged Frontier to deliver the solution for Altius. We were recommended based on our reputation, previous project work and our consultants’ excellent knowledge and expertise. Altius had already chosen to install Enterprise Vault, Symantec’s industry leading email and content archiving product. As Symantec Silver Solution partners Frontier’s consultants have an excellent knowledge of all of their products and have installed Enterprise Vault for a host of our clients.

Deploying the solution

Frontier’s consultants set to work installing the new solution. The whole email archiving project was completed in less than 2 weeks. “Technically, Frontier Technology’s consultants were excellent, they know their products perfectly. The solution has been highly successful, enabling the firm to effectively manage the unstructured information across the organisation. It reduced the size of primary storage and applications by moving off emails and applying de-duplication and compression. Altius’ lawyers have found the search facility fast and easy to use and management have been able to deliver on their commitment of good governance.

Altius has almost instantly seen an return on investment and will continue to do so; storage cost growth will slow as Enterprise Vault transparently moves less-used content to lower cost storage devices.
