Infinity Capital Markets

Frontier Technology was enlisted by Infinity Capital Markets to design a solution to upgrade their existing IT infrastructure. The firm needed a first-rate yet cost effective system for both its users and servers.

Infinity Capital Markets is a privately owned proprietary trading business founded in 2000. It is the European business of First New York Securities LLC, one of the leading proprietary trading firms in the United States. As a highly-regarded financial services player, it is essential for the firm to have a resilient IT infrastructure and a highly available business continuity plan to provide essential business support.

Based on our excellent reputation Frontier Technology was enlisted by Infinity Capital Markets to design a solution to upgrade their existing IT infrastructure. The firm needed a first-rate yet cost effective system for both its users and servers. “We were basically looking for the whole package” explained Gary Brown IT Manager, at Infinity Capital Markets “We wanted to completely upgrade our IT infrastructure, but with budgets being tight in 2009, it was essential that all of our projects were delivered quickly and at a cost effective price.”

Infinity Capital Markets main business driver was the need to switch to an automatic business continuity service. They needed a reliable safe-guard to protect the firm’s essential data in the event of a disaster. The firm’s other priorities involved the need to provide staff with a secure remote working facility and an effective SAN storage solution. Underpinning these requirements was the importance of upgrading their existing infrastructure to reflect their growing business demands.

After analysing the firms IT requirements and commercial needs, Frontier’s consultants tailored a cost-effective plan to revolutionise the firm’s IT infrastructure. As an independent solutions provider we are able to offer non-biased advice and install the best solutions for our clients’ requirements.

The new solutions

Our consultants designed a disaster recovery solution using VMWare and Double-Take software. This technology ensures that in the event of a disaster, Infinity Capital Market’s essential business information has been backed up and can be instantly recovered. Additionally, it provides a highly available system for the firm’s key business applications.  If their email server became unavailable, then system would only interrupt users for a maximum of 15 minutes.

After considering Infinity Capital Markets future business plans and the technology they already had, Frontier Technology’s consultants went on to design a SAN solution and virtualisation platform. The specialised design provided a cost effective way to deploy new business applications.  The platform also allows the firm to consolidate their existing physical servers reducing their on-going IT running cost.

Infinity Capital Markets is currently in their initial 6-month testing stage, Gary Brown commented “We are very pleased with Frontier Technology’s solutions and are already seeing the effects with all of our servers moving from physical to virtual. We did realise not envisage that this happen so quickly and easily.  We have definitely been provided with a cost effective and innovative solution”
