The Cloud is for Winners in The Olympics 2012

With 34 venues throughout the UK, 9.1 million tickets on sale and an estimated population influx of two million people in London alone at any one time – UK organisations should not expect business to be as usual during The Olympic Games.

The entire Olympics and Paralympic Games period is scheduled last approximately three months from when the venue opens on the 27th June until it closes on the 16th September. Organisations should prepare themselves for inevitable disruption due to the expected influx of journalists, athletes and tourists into the country. It has been estimated that there will be half a million extra public transport journeys per day. On top of this many major roads will be closed due to sporting activities and movements of people.

“It is essential that your organisation fully prepares for the event. There will be up to three hour delays on public transport, potential increased terrorist activity, criminal activity, public disorder and domestic extremism. On top of this there is a greater chance of non-malicious hazards such as pandemics and heat waves due to the huge influx of people in the country.” Stated Paul Eskriett, Principal Security and Contingency Planning Advisor from The City of London Corporation in our meeting earlier this year.

To ensure that your company and employees stay safe and productive, organisations must have a fully planned, well-tested business continuity plan and methods to ensure your workforce can work from any location at any time. Cloud Computing offers a compelling solution to these issues, furthermore the flexibility and pay-per-use model means that it can be used temporarily during events such as the Olympics.

Frontier Technology is offering organisations Frontier Olympic Cloud, a three month cloud computing package to ensure business productivity during the Olympic Games. You choose which data and applications you want to be made available and safeguarded and we ensure they are delivered on demand to your employees from any location, from any internet connected device, using any type of internet connection.  Our technology ensures seamless access and the same efficiency as if you were working in the office. Furthermore we work closely with you and customise the system to meet your business requirements.

We transfer your business systems to our highly available, highly secure, compliant tier 4 data centres which are located outside of London for the duration of The Games. To ensure extra business continuity, we replicate your systems from one of our data centres to another located over 60 miles away. After the three month period (or however long you require) we seamlessly transfer your systems to your desired location without any disruption to your IT systems.
