Ozannes is a leading Channel Islands-based law firm with its main office in Guernsey and an additional office in Jersey. The organisation specialises in advising on international financing and investment transactions. Ozannes has recently merged with another leading offshore law firm, Mourant du Feu & Jeune to create Mourant Ozannes.
The firm was experiencing overall IT performance issues especially in the Jersey office, where there was no internal server infrastructure. All of the staff in this location were using Citrix to access company data and information. Ozannes’ IT performance compelled the firm to look for a solution to increase the overall operational performance and to reduce its bandwidth capacity in order to become more cost-effective and productive.

Ozannes was introduced to Frontier Technology through a recommendation from Bedell Group, another leading law firm based in the Channel Islands. Nick Marquis, Head of IT at Ozannes, explains: “We were aware of Frontier Technology having learned about their fast and efficient service from Bedell Group. We decided to work with them and it was an excellent choice.”
Frontier Technology is an independent IT solutions provider, partnered with industry-leading firms including Microsoft, Symantec, Citrix, and Net-App. They have a holistic approach to IT and offer impartial advice, solely based on their clients’ business needs. To gain a good understanding of Ozannes’ current situation and requirements, Frontier’s consultants initially analysed the law firm’s IT infrastructure to design a plan.
They considered the needs of the users in the Jersey offices and the whole organisation’s current and future business requirements. Based on the findings, Frontier designed a solution using Citrix Branch Repeater to increase Ozannes’ IT performance. It was chosen because it provides a high definition desktop and application experience to branch and mobile users. Citrix Branch Repeater also reduces bandwidth costs and simplifies branch infrastructure. As soon as it was implemented, the new solution instantly halved the firm’s bandwidth and greatly improved its users’ performance.
Ozannes have a 2-3 year business plan in which they will review the solution and verify the return on investment. Citrix Branch Repeater has only recently been implemented so it is still too early to judge the direct savings. However, based on the increased user productivity and the halved bandwidth, they expect that the savings will be at the very least, in line with their business objectives.
